RadioFrame Picocell and Femtocell Base Stations

These small consumer base stations use a low-cost, broadband or DSL
connection to connect from the subscriber site to the carrier's network.

Cell phones are normally reliable on the go, but in areas such as the
home or office, or even remote areas where cell signals are often too
weak, it can be difficult or impossible to have extended conversations
with a reliable cell signal.

RadioFrame base stations offer a replacement to the traditional land
line telephone service, guaranteeing a strong cell signal where cellular
subscribers spend most of their time.

RadioFrame's base stations are sold via distribution channels from OEM's such as Nokia, to the mobile network operator (MNO), to the customer.

OmniCell@Work (Picocell)

RFN Picocell Product The Picocell includes a 1-TRX transceiver with all required service logic, a multiple-switched-ports router with firewall security, and web services to provide the MNO remote fault management and configuration capabilities.

  • The transceiver performs start-up provisioning and authentication and supports necessary functions:
airlink processing of all communications as well as BTS radio control, Quality of Service, IP tunneling,
    encryption and management functions.

The package also includes an Aggregation Gateway, the common IP tunneling point for elements that enable interoperability between the transceiver voice and data packets and the OEM-specific interface used by the wireless equipment manufacturers.

OmniCell@Home (Femtocell)

RFN White femtocell product The Femtocell also includes a TRX transceiver with all required service logic, a multiple-switched-ports router with firewall security, and web services to provide the MNO remote fault management and configuration capabilities.

Network and System Management

Network and system management is an integrated function of the RFN OmniCell-series system and the existing
systems that already support the mobile operator's radio and core networks. The OmniCell-series is designed to
be used in an existing network environment with the existing mobile operations center.

  • For GSM/GPRS, management and provisioning are provided by the mobile operator's systems.
  • RadioFrame's products work as a complementary management solution that allows for simple
and remote systems provisioning, monitoring, and event/performance monitoring.
  • These products offer interoperability and integration necessary for these functions, as well as
comprehensive control down to the module level.
